Craigslist Redesign
Team Project
Role: UX/UI Designer, Researcher
Time: 3 weeks
Tools: Figma, Google Slides
Overview
Introduction + The Problem
The design of Craigslist is universally hated by designers and users alike. It fails at being easily usable or aesthetically pleasing, with the site being essentially nothing but HTML.

Goals
Me and my groupmates, William, Max, Ella, Melina, and Chi would apply multiple different design principles to fix Craigslist’s appearance and usability.
Process
Each group member was tasked to create low fidelity wireframes that would redesign 3 of the current Craigslist pages. The group would then choose 3 out of the 15 total wireframes they had made to include in the final presentation. Every group member worked on the presentation, even if their wireframe was not included.
Development
Solving the Problem
In order to fix Craigslist, I focused on the heuristics of knowledge in the head/ knowledge in the world, restraints and slips, and the gulf of discoverability/execution when redesigning my pages.
Workflow
Redesigning each page would begin with recreating the original design. I then decided which heuristic was appropriate to cite. From here, I was able to redesign the page to adhere to this principle.
Evolution
Once the group chose the 3 wireframes to use, work on the presentation began. The focus shifted entirely from design to revolving around user input and data. I was tasked with presenting the user test results and creating the slide focused on our redesign of Craigslist’s home page.
Results
Final Product
The final presentation was a success, with each group member receiving perfect marks on the assignment.
Reflection
I am content with how the project went, but I’d like to revisit the idea at some point. I could go deeper with some of the changes made in my redesigns, utilizing more of the skills I have learned as a designer.
